American’s reaction to President Barack Obama’s visit to Kenya

According to state house report, United States president Barack Obama will be visiting Kenya July. A number of Kenyans are happy that a son of Kenya who became the first black  president of America  is finally coming to his homeland. It is a trip that will raise a lot of criticism and controversy from the republicans ahead of US elections.

It has been noted that, most Americans are not happy with president barrack Obama’s visit to Kenya. March 30, 2015, AFP writer Andrew Beatty posted an article that appeared on Yahoo about president Obama’s Kenya visit. The post attracted over 6,600 comments mostly from Americans. About 80% of the comments indicated that Americans are not happy with Obama’s visit to his said fatherland Kenya. This how some of the comments read;

“J: It never ceases to amaze me how much damage this man has done to our beloved Country both on the domestic and international front and I am afraid there is more to come should the Iranian deal go through. He is truly the peace in our time person of the 21st century and seems to believe he can placate the Iranians who continue to conquer the Middle East and chant death to Americans all the while why we are reducing the capacity of our military which as a veteran rankles me. How sad and terrible for our children and grandchildren. Don’t blame him but the people who voted him into office.”

“Bob: He will meet with Kenyatta whose father was the originator of the satanic, homicidal
Mau Mau oath, and who continues in his anti white , pro genocide policy”

“Geogia: Maybe he’s going to get a copy of his birth certificate”.

“Richard: Great potential for Kenya ? For what . They are unstable , poor , on the hot list where Americans need to stay away from. Any more good news . They are an important leader in our ” fight ” against terrorism — a joke — Obama can’t figure out how to handle Isis , Muslim Extremists,The Arab Spring which he has destroyed . Now Yemen . But this guy needs to go to Kenya . The land of his father . Mean while, this trip will cost The American Tax Payers millions more . This whole thing is one more trip for a man who has taken over 100 vacations. Lets just add one more”

“Pam: I’m sure that he scheduled the trip when school was out so he could show his kids their grandfather’s grave and put flowers on it, the same man who abandoned him. He’s made his father into some type of idol in his own mind and in his fairy tale book, Dreams of My Father. His old man was a drunk, a philanderer and didn’t give a rat’s derriere about him. Or could it be that he wants to throw his grandma a few more dollars to keep his true background quiet.”

“Peter: If Obama loves Kenya, he should cancel this meeting. History has shown that a visit by an American President to any East African country has resulted in unwelcome disruptions whose effect reverberate to the neighboring countries. Airport operations are disrupted, communications are jammed, local businesses are forced to close, streets are closed, and the country’s security mechinery is all focused on this visit. The only beneficiaries of such trips are the corporate bureaucrats who will accompany the president who will be holding business meetings with their local counterparts, all at the expense of taxpayers.”

“Bluesrunner: Barack will get to visit the homeland of his father, Barack, Senior, who, in truth was an alcoholic man, who abused women and abandoned his son when he was an infant. The President’s father, Barack, Sr., was also a polygamist. The President’s book may have been more aptly named, “Nightmares of My Father”. Well, at least the President was able to use his father’s heritage to earn several million dollars on his book, and to have a strong advantage, as a biracial man of being elected President in the U.S.-twice”

”Anthonys: you know a lot of Americans are sitting at there computer just shaking there heads . I’ve said this before his first election. Republican party… YOUR the one I blame for this traitor being president of the united states you knew he wasn’t American and you knew his dad was Kenyan it was no secret . you could have easily stopped this from happening and you didn’t and that leads me to ask conservatives knowing that the republican politicians knew that he wasn’t eligible to run for president and did NOTHING. except blame the democrats for all the injustice from this administration. people who do you think gave homeland the money to buy billions of bullets, 6 bullets for every human living in America. congress did and that was a bipartisan vote . WAKE UP AMERICA”

In our last article, we did a post of the degrees that the top most powerful CEOs in Kenya did. This time we crossed the border and looked at the degrees that the top world billionaires did. While compiling the list we relied on research conducted by tow companies Forbes Magazine and Approved Index UK company.

A study done by approved UK Company indicates that 32% of the world billionaires did not finish tertiary education and 22% of the world billionaires studied engineering at university. The study also shows that 19% of the world billionaires have their investments in the tech industry and 15% in the retail industry. Of all the 1,645 world billionaire, 39% of them are from the United States.

Below is Forbes list of the top 10 billionaires in the world. The list however should not be used as a Judgment of which degree courses have produced the top billionaires as it includes only ten of the 1,645 billionaires in the world. Use the pie chart below to determine the degrees that most world billionaires did.

  1. Bill Gates ($79.2 Billion)–Drop Out, Harvard University
  2. Carlos Slim Helu ($77.1 billion)-Bachelor of Arts & Science, National Autonomous University of Mexico
  3. Warren Buffett ($72.7 Billion)-Bachelor of Arts& Science, University of Nebraska Lincoln and Master of Science, Columbia University
  4. Amancio Ortega ($64.5 Billion)-never got to go to college
  5. Larry Ellison ($54.3 Billion)-Drop Out from University of Chicago; Drop Out from University of Illinois at Urbana

  9. Jim Walton ($40.6 Billion)-B.A. in Marketing, University of Arkansas – Fayetteville
  10. Liliane Bettencourt ($40.1Billion)- no higher education

Ksh 93 equals 1 US dollar

Note: We are born different, by the mere fact that most world billionaires did engineering courses does not mean if you do engineering you will become a billionaire. Chase your dreams, you will get there.

steve mwangi garissa university(Photo: Free At last, Steve Mwangi Enjoying his meal) Yesterday as the Garissa university attack continued, Kenyayote was in full communication with the victims of the attack. It is sad that more than 147 students have lost the their lives in the attack.

Steve Mwangi is one of those Garrisa University attack victims that we were in communication with all through and who managed to survive one of the most deadliest attack ever launched in Kenya by the Alshabaab Militant group. He survived by hiding inside a wardrobe. Steve is an information science student in Garissa University (Check for our conversation we had with him yesterday as the attack continued in our recent posts).

This is what Steve Mwangi had to say;

“I survived the attack Elvis. We are currently in a military camp waiting to be picked by the NYS. We will thereafter be escorted to our homes. This is one of the worst experience i have ever gone through. I lost my two roommate and our student organization Chair. Thank you to all those who prayed for me”

Prof. Makau Mutua’s reaction to Garissa University attack

Makau Mutua has remained relevant in the political scene in Kenya despite being miles away from Kenya. He has been loved and hated in equal measures through his writings which appear in Kenya’s Print media. His writings have given his critics like Sen Murkomen every reason to hate him. After Garissa University attack, this is what Prof. Makau Mutua had to say through his twitter handle @makaumutua ;

  •  “An Open Letter to Aden Duale on al-Shabaab attack (read story here)”
  • “Kenyans should ask the Mungiki to wipe out Al Shabaab if the Kenyan security and armed forces can’t do the job”
  • “Kenya has entered an ominous dark tunnel. The Garissa pogrom has no precedent. Every Kenyan must become a soldier against terror”
  • “Al Shabaab killings at Garissa University confirms why Kenya and AU must intensify efforts to wipe out terror group in Somalia.”

University conspiracy that made UON law graduate Mohammed Abdirahim to join Alshabaab

$

From the time a Kenyan child joins primary school they are taught that the key to success in life is to do well in exams so that they can be accepted to the best secondary schools, the better grades they get in KCPE the better secondary school they will join. They are taught that if they get into the best high school they will get high grades and join the best universities and do a degree course that will lead them to their dream job. After getting their dream job they will live a life of riches that they have been longing for.poor education system in kenya

On the other hand, instead of teachers being given the freedom to teach students on techniques that will help them to face the real life world challenges, they are forced to be narrow minded and teach students worthless information that will never help them in real life.

Law students like Mohammed Abdirahim spent huge sums of money to complete his degree and ended up getting low quality education that could not assist him to face the real life challenges. Euphemia a University of Nairobi final year law student who spoke to Kenyayote revealed that the minimum amount of money that a private sponsored student can spend to complete her or his degree is shillings one million. This does not include the cost of text book. University expenditures in Nairobi have also significantly risen.

Having invested millions of money in education and enduring all kinds of suffering Mohammed Abdirahim goes out to the world and realizes that University degree is a worthless piece of paper that cannot make his life any better. Discrimination in job allocation according to tribe has also taken stage and his ethnic background cannot allow him to get a job despite his excellent performance. With all these kinds of desperations in life, he resorts to join militant groups to express his bitterness with the ruling government.

Have you ever heard of online classes or online learning? Have you been asking yourself questions like; How do people attend classes online? Which is the best online course to do? What is the cost of attending online classes?. Well, we’ve got answers to some of the questions.

One month ago i was browsing about the same questions mentioned above and i got an answer. The answer is Udemy.

Udemy is an online learning portal that offers several courses. The portal contains experienced professors who have dedicated their time to teach online.

Once your signup at Udemy, you will find a list of courses and lecturers who teach them. The list comprises of free online courses and paid online courses.

I started with a free history class and i am finding it exciting. My proffesor whom we chat with via the udemy messanger portal has assigned me some tasks to do after providing me with resourceful reading materials. We have scheduled with him time when we meet online and discuss about how i am progressing in the course.

The udemy portal also contains a forum where students  from different parts of the world who have enrolled to their classes can network and converse.

Udemy is the best portal so far i have found to learn online.

Jomo Kenyatta university of Agriculture and Technology joined the world in mourning the 148 students who were killed in the Garissa attack.

JKUAT Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga led students and staff in interfaith prayers and memorial for the fallen comrades. The congregation lit candles and offered prayers to the affected families.

Among those who attended were muslim student leaders. “Abdi Siyaro, a fourth year civil engineering student of the Muslim faith called on Kenyans to work towards a common good instead of polarizing the country on religious lines. Siyaro who is also the leader of students from Garissa county studying at JKUAT, condemned the University attack, saying that as a devoted Muslim, nowhere in the 114 chapters of Quran is terror allowed or encouraged.”

Abdi was among many other muslim students who condemned the Garissa university attack.

6. Use your school or public library for internet access.

7. Try going to shop late night when the price of  items is more reduced.

Boniface Mwangi: Killed Recce squad hero burried in the most disgraceful manner

$
0
0

It is the Kenya we live. Too much talking but little action. Despite all the praise the recce squad got, nothing much was done to send one of them who died in Garissa attack mission decently

Activist Boniface Mwangi attended his burial and this was his personal observation.

image

I Travelled to Cheleget village in Bomet County to bury Kenya’s hero Recce squad Bernard Tonui who was killed while rescuing Garissa University students. The men who flew to Garissa to spectate while RECCe squad travelled by road didn’t attend the funeral.

Bomet’s Governor is Isaac Ruto,he was also the area MP for 10 years. The area has no electricity, water or even roads and all the elected leaders arrived at the funeral using choppers. Three choppers landed to “witness” Tonui’s funeral.

Tonui was in the police service for 18 years and twice he was trained in the USA. The government spent millions training him but by the time of his death he was earning about Ksh 36000 ($400).

Police officers do not have life insurance and the medical cover they were supposed to get hasn’t been effected. Tonui meagre salary could only be enough to
build a mud walled house for his wife Nelly and their four kids. The politicians arrived late, got the best seats, politicked for so long and they had to be begged to stop so the burial could happen before 6pm. Once the time came to bury Tonui, the politicians with
their poorly paid bodyguards disappeared. Tonui is one of the many police officers who sacrifice their lives for us but once they’re buried we move on. A dead politician is worth millions in compensation,a dead cop gets a coffin and a lorry to transport the body.

Police officers deserve better.”
